  • Connected directly to a vacuum truck for an efficient oil spill response unit or routine pit clean-up operation
Skimmers

Application

Although designs vary, drum skimmers, weir skimmers, disc skimmers, cascade skimmers, and all oil skimmers rely on specific gravity, surface tension, and a moving medium to remove floating oil or debris from water’s surface.

Floating or sinking oil, grease, or debris clings to skimming media more readily than water. This allows skimming media in the shape of a belt, disk, drum, etc. to pass through a fluid surface to pick up oil and grease with very little water. This oily material is subsequently removed from the media with wiper blades or pinch rollers.

Oil skimmers are simple, dependable, and effective tools for removing oil, grease, and other hydrocarbons from water. Often, a skimmer by itself can achieve the desired level of water purity. In more demanding situations, skimming is a cost-effective means of removing most of the oil before using more complicated costly treatments such as coalesces, membrane filters, and chemical processes.

Screening is the separation of material into 2-6 different sized products. The material is separated by passing it through a “screen box” in which the screens or meshes can be sized depending on the application. Then the material falls through, like a sieve. The material falls onto attached conveyors which stock piles the end products. The end products can result in hazardous waste reduction and possibly be recycled. Shears are a perfect option for removal of large above ground and underground storage tanks whereby uniform sized sections of debris can be cut. This allows for easy loading on transport vehicles and provides optimal uniformity for scrap recycling facilities that may offer a larger cash scrap payout. Because they are easily mobilized to remote locations, shears are also used in the Railroad industry for cutting old scrap rail cars to be sent for recycling or to assist in moving debris by cutting it down to size and allowing the material to be transported to a designated staging area.
